Vodafone Uses Values to Drive Team Performance and Sales Success

To forge closer ties as a combined team and keep driving their impressive business performance, Vodafone’s Victorian & South Australian teams came together for a conference at the The Mansion Hotel outside Melbourne.

The respective General Managers wanted to reinforce key values across the teams, support for colleagues and taking responsibility to deliver.

Conference design, team experiences and FAST Facilitation were sought to help.
The Meeting by Design™ planning phase enabled close collaboration with Vodafone facilitators to combine the best of Vodafone’s Values based culture, with FAST Meeting Co.'s suite of tools.

To provide a truly ‘out there’ experience, FAST Meetings also adapted The Team Game™ a program by DaPo Conference Events.

Safari to BHAK was introduced early in Day 1, challenging teams to deliver part of a whole group expedition the following day to the nearby Werribee Zoo (Big Hairy Animal Kingdom; BHAK)

Groups were responsible for separate aspects such as Transport to the Zoo, Animal interpretation, Lunch and Souvenirs. Apart from the fun of preparing creatively for their part of the journey, the responsibility to deliver was felt through peer evaluation of each other’s experience after the event.

Interspersed with the fun, were interactive and engaging facilitated sessions, including reinforcement of Vodafone's powerful Values tools delivered by Vodafone facilitators, along with FAST Meeting Co. tools including Support Cycle™ and Business Cafe'.

Day 2 included a unique couple of hours spent on Safari with colleagues and lots of laughs. Safari to BHAK was then debriefed back at the conference venue, highlighting important and relevant learning such as co-ordination between functions across the business, and the power of keeping it simple for customers.

As Vodafone works to deliver it’s Big Hairy Audacious Goals, the Safari and overall conference delivered a powerful reinforcement for the Vic & SA teams of support for colleagues, and a strong message of personal responsibility. The conference was rated as highly effective by the participants and leaders.
